Halvorsen & Møinichen AS is a privately owned company.
It is a result of a merger between Tandberg & Møinichen AS and Svein Halvorsen AS, which was effective 30 December 2010, Tandberg & Møinichen AS being the acquiring company. The two companies' history is presented in the following pages.
Tor Møinichen has spent his working life in the maritime industry. He now wants to use his energy to help other people grow their business.
He holds an MBA (1980) from Sloan School of Management, MIT, Boston, USA, and a B.Sc. in Naval Architecture (1974) from University of Newcastle upon Tyne, England
He has since 1984 been managing the company’s investment portfolio, which is currently one of the major focuses besides consulting work.
He has been chairman and board member of several small and medium sized companies.
For almost 20 years he was the general manager of Halvorsen & Møinichen’s former subsidiary Sea Service International AS, working with shipbroking and marine consulting. This work was started under his management, and the company became the leading broker in the market for fast ferries.
He has previously worked with The Ship Research Institute of Norway in the department for transport economics, been Manager of the Project Department in the dry-bulk and tanker division of Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA, and worked on project financing. Most recently he was H&R and Office Manager at the head office of I.M. Skaugen SE in Oslo, Norway.
In his leisure time, he is President of the Norwegian Sailing Federation. He has been Commodore (chairman of the board) of the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club, Norway’s largest sailing club. He is an International Judge and a National Race Officer in sailing. He actively competes in the Dragon class.
